The name of the album is very symbolic and precious. Fire Lilies are among the first flowers to surface after a fynbos fire. They are the phoenix of flowers…a symbol of beauty rising from the ashes…this album is a declaration of victory, redemption and beauty restored. You can download the lyrics on the right. I’ve included a bit of background on each song for your interest.

Maybe Baby

…The first verse reflects the intensity and vulnerability that a girl may feel when she exposes herself for the first time in a romantic relationship…the second verse refers to a dismissal and overcoming of the pain and shame of past romantic relationships where she may have exposed herself to unworthy partners and gotten burnt.

The chorus is a reminder to take care of her heart and an encouragement that she will ultimately move into a place of full redemption and victory. The final verse speaks of the comfort found in a romantic relationship where she can just relax and be herself. There is also a reminder to steward her passion well. The final bit expresses the excitement and freshness of new love and its’ capacity to overcome many obstacles in an uncertain future…

Hebrews 12:1 is also a good reference for this song. Enjoy…

Fire Lily

…Fire Lily is a very special song…the fastest download i have ever received from the Lord. It is also the name of the album.
The song was originally written for a lady with cancer but i see it as a declaration of love from God for any woman who is in a place of suffering. Fire Lilies are among the first flowers to surface after a fynbos fire. They are the phoenix of flowers…a symbol of beauty rising from the ashes…

Isaiah 61:1-3 says:
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
    instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair…

The album “Fire Lily” is a product of this mandate from the Lord…

Yellow Brick Road

…This is an interesting song. My favourite movie as a child was “The Wizard of Oz” with its’ epic signature song “Over the Rainbow”, sung by Judy Garland. As you’ll see the song plays out over three verses where I refer to a scarecrow, a tin man and a lion.

There’s a cross over between earthly and heavenly awareness in each of the verses. I want to leave at least one of these songs open to your own interpretation but you are welcome to ask me questions…
